William Yeatman

Former Research Fellow, Cato Institute

William Yeatman was a research fellow at the Cato Institute’s Robert A. Levy Center for Constitutional Studies. He is a member of the D.C. Bar (under D.C. App. R. 46‑A; supervised by a D.C. Bar member).

Yeatman has testified many times before Congress and state legislatures, and he is a frequent contributor to major media outlets. His scholarly work has appeared in academic journals like the Georgetown Law Journal and Appalachian Natural Resources Law Journal, and his popular writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, Bloomberg, and elsewhere.

Before joining Cato, he specialized in environmental policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. From 2004 to 2006, he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Yeatman holds a BA in environmental sciences from the University of Virginia, an MA in international studies from the Denver University Graduate School of International Studies, and a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center.
