Richer lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he is a visiting senior fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University’s Kennedy School. He is also the CEO of Republic Affairs, a crisis consulting firm for pro-democracy, pro-rule-of-law entities and individuals.
In 2020, Richer received nearly a million votes when he was elected as a Republican to the recorder position in Maricopa County, Arizona. As county recorder, he was responsible for a wide range of government services, including voter registration, early voting administration, and public recordings in Maricopa County, the fourth-largest county in the United States.
Richer has appeared on a wide range of national television networks, including Fox, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS. He has received many awards and recognitions for his commitment to truth, the rule of law, and democracy, including being named Arizonan of the Year by the Arizona Republic in 2021, Public Law Attorney of the Year by the Maricopa County Bar Association in 2022, Leader of the Year by the Arizona Capitol Times in 2023, and Defender of Democracy by Time magazine in 2024.
Richer received a JD and an MA from the University of Chicago and a BA from Tulane University. He previously worked at Cato Institute as a summer legal associate between his first and second years at law school.
