Siri A. Terjesen is Associate Dean of Research & External Relations, Professor and Executive Director of the Madden Center for Value Creation at Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) College of Business, the U.S.’ 11th largest accredited business school. Siri is an internationally recognized expert on corporate governance, entrepreneurship, and strategic management. Her research on firms’ governance practices,
board diversity, value creation, and entrepreneurial activity, is amongst the world’s top 2% in citations and used by policymakers and practitioners. She was appointed by the U.S. President as one of 15 voting directors to the National Board of Education Services (NBES), which advises the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute for Education Sciences.
Siri is a trusted advisor to C‑suite executives through her strategy and governance consulting across a variety of industries. Prior to joining academia she was a management consultant with Accenture in the U.S. and in Germany.
Siri has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, and an MBA from the Norwegian School of Economics, where she was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar. She has a PhD in Strategy & Entrepreneurship from Cranfield University in the UK. Prior to joining Florida Atlantic University, she was a faculty member at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and American University’s Kogod School of Business, and a post-doctoral scholar at Queensland University of Technology in Australia. She has won several teaching awards for her undergraduate, graduate, and executive education classes.
Siri overcame severe scoliosis in childhood to become a world class distance runner during her PhD studies and early academic career. She won a bronze medal at the World 50k Championships, and represented the U.S. at several world championships. During her studies abroad, she also ran for and captained the England and Queensland teams, and won over 40 marathons and ultramarathons. She stays active, running on the beach near her home in South Florida, and keeping up with her husband and their three children.
