Angus Deaton won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, “for his analysis of consumption, poverty, and welfare.” Deaton is a professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University. At a Cato Book Forum in 2013, he presented his book The Great Escape: Health, Wealth, and the Origins of Inequality, in which he explains why people throughout the world are living longer and more prosperous lives than ever before.
