Tad DeHaven

Policy Analyst, Cato Institute

Tad DeHaven is a policy analyst on federal and state economic and fiscal policy issues for the Cato Institute. Prior to that, he was a research analyst with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. From 2008 to 2013, DeHaven was a budget policy analyst with Cato and co-editor of Cato’s Downsizing the Federal Government website. He’s a former deputy director of the Indiana Office of Management and Budget and worked as a policy advisor in the U.S. Senate.

His articles have been published in the Washington Post, Washington Times, New York Post, Wall Street Journal Online, National Review and Politico​.com. He has appeared on the CBS Evening News, CNBC, CNN, C‑Span, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Channel, and NPR.
