A recent executive order signed by President Donald Trump went into effect today suspending refugee admissions into the United States.

This suspension disrupts the resettlement plans of thousands of individuals. David Bier highlights the negative impacts of the ban in a new blog post. It primarily effects those coming from: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Syria, Burma (Myanmar), Somalia, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Sudan, Eritrea, and Iraq.

And, while President Trump has voiced his support for Christian refugees in the past, they were also negatively impacted during his first term and are likely going to be impacted during this ban.

Bier points to the fact that “the Trump administration reduced Christian refugee resettlement by 78 percent” and “that most refugees excluded under the Trump refugee suspension are likely Christians as well.”
