As part of the Cato Institute’s Defending Globalization project, Cato Vice President Scott Lincicome speaks with Senior Fellow Johan Norberg about Norberg’s new essay for the project, “Globalization: A Race to the Bottom—or to the Top?” In this video, Norberg and Lincicome debunk common claims that free trade has lowered labor and environmental conditions in developing and developed countries. In fact, the era of globalization has seen rising wages, safer jobs, less child labor, and improving environmental conditions – gains that have come more quickly for the countries most open to the global economy.
