Learn about Cato University

Cato University is the Cato Institute's premier educational event of the year. This annual program brings together outstanding faculty and participants from across the country and, often, from around the globe–all sharing a commitment to liberty and learning. Its widening popularity is due to not only the quality of the attendees, faculty and topics, but the opportunity it provides participants to form new and enduring friendships, and for sharing experiences and perspectives in a one-of-a-kind, brain-energizing environment.

Would you like to meet like-minded people from all over? Have a spectacular vacation while sharing ideas on how to advance, enhance, and defend your principles about liberty, free-markets, individual rights, the dangers of a sprawling, expensive, and intruding government – among other subjects? If so, Cato University is definitely for you.

Cato University 2013 will be held at the Cato Institute, located in the heart of Washington, D.C. In a time of political turbulence, ideological posturing, and so much more, our nation's capital is the perfect setting for examining the roots of our commitment to liberty and limited government and for exploring the ideas and values on which the American republic was founded.

Now doubled in size, the new Cato building will enhance the intellectual adventure for attendees with state-of-the-art facilities, the latest in conference and multimedia technology, spacious and remarkably comfortable meeting areas, and more. This wonderful new facility is the ideal venue for bringing together people from across the country for a one-of-a-kind environment of learning, thinking, discussing, and making new friends.

No Price Increase for 2013
To make this wonderful program accessible to as many people as possible, we’ve kept the cost of Cato University at $995. This price covers all meals, receptions, lectures, materials, books, and evening events, but not overnight room charges.
